In a groundbreaking initiative, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) opened registrations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming programme through the online platform BookMyShow. The unique approach garnered immense public interest, leading to all seats being fully booked within an hour of the registration launch.
Over 42,000 additional applicants have since placed themselves on a waiting list, indicative of the exceptional enthusiasm surrounding the Prime Minister’s visit. This programme, taking place on Tuesday, aims to integrate technology into public participation and transform how citizens engage with governance.
Participants will benefit from a fully digital entry system. Each registered attendee will receive a digital M-Ticket via their BookMyShow account, complete with a secure QR code for streamlined entry verification. This innovative strategy aims to expedite the entrance process and enhance the overall experience for attendees.
Prime Minister Modi’s trip to Gujarat includes a robust agenda aimed at bolstering regional development. He will lay foundation stones and inaugurate various projects exceeding ₹35,000 crore in total investment in Vadodara.
Among the critical initiatives, Modi plans to dedicate three significant sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) to the nation, developed at an investment of more than ₹20,700 crore. These include the new routes linking New Sanand to New Makarpura, New Umbergaon to New Saphale, and from New Saphale to JNPT.
This infrastructure will enhance the movement of EXIM (Export-Import) cargo, supporting connectivity between industrial hubs and maritime ports. By decreasing logistics costs and easing congestion in Mumbai’s railway system, the new freight corridor promises to strengthen the country’s logistic framework.
Upon commissioning, the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) will achieve operational status across its entire length. This enhanced freight infrastructure is necessary for improving multimodal transportation, reducing transit times, and ensuring seamless cargo movement across regions.
In addition to freight services, the Prime Minister will introduce new passenger train routes, including services between Tanda Road and Vadodara. He will also unveil a new rail line connecting remote regions of Alirajpur to the national rail network.
Further cementing his commitment to regional development, Modi will lay the groundwork for three railway projects extending over 329 kilometres. This expansion, which includes the Vadodara-Ratlam line and the conversion of Miyagam Karjan to Malsar, comes at a cost of over ₹9,700 crore and aims to enhance both passenger and freight capacities.
Moreover, Modi will initiate three National Highway projects projected to cost nearly ₹1,780 crore. This includes the six-laning of the Kamrej-Chalthan stretch of NH-48 and the enhancement of major infrastructure along NH-53.
In conjunction with these large-scale projects, a series of Government of Gujarat developments valued at approximately ₹2,600 crore will see their foundational stones laid. These projects feature the highly anticipated Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road Phase II and a floating solar project at Kadana Dam, among others.
The Prime Minister will also showcase housing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and unveil a water-supply initiative benefiting 11 villages in eastern Vadodara. His programme aims to bridge infrastructural gaps while prioritising sustainable development.
In Mumbai, Modi will inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026, one of the most significant fintech events globally, scheduled from September 8 to 11, 2026. GFF has become an influential platform since its inception in 2020, bringing together key policymakers and industry leaders to discuss advancements in finance.
The theme for GFF 2026, “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum – Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance,” reflects a commitment to enhancing the global financial landscape. Discussions will spotlight how emerging technologies can propel trusted and measurable financial outcomes for citizens and businesses alike.
