A significant security alert unfolded in Ramban district early Friday after a suspicious Scorpio vehicle allegedly breached a police checkpoint at Chanderkote and fled towards Nashri. The police initiated an extensive search operation to track the vehicle that reportedly ignored signals to stop.
The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when the Scorpio, with registration number JK02AK-1743, traveled from the Srinagar direction towards Jammu. Despite being flagged down by police personnel at a security checkpoint, the driver disregarded the instructions and accelerated.
According to police sources, personnel fired three rounds in a bid to halt the escape of the vehicle, which continued its course towards Nashri. This prompted the involvement of multiple agencies, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force, and the Army, to conduct a large-scale search operation.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Arun Gupta, arrived on-site to oversee the ongoing operations and coordinate with security forces. “The district police have seized the suspicious Scorpio near Dalwas, and further investigation is underway. Detailed information will be shared after the investigation progresses,” Gupta stated.
