AWANTIPORA : Azad Ahmad Teeli, the house owner, was arrested in Case FIR No 58/2020 of PS Awantipora and charged under Section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for willfully harboring (providing shelter) to two deceased terrorists, including the self-styled chief commander of the banned terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen, Reyaz Naikoo, also known as Zubair-Ul-Islam. The house has been attached under Section 33 of the UAPA, which allows attachment proceedings even after the presentation of a charge sheet, marking the first such case by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The police have once again urged citizens not to harbor or provide shelter to terrorists. Failure to comply may result in legal action, including the attachment of movable and immovable properties. Furthermore, in case of any forced and coercive entry by terrorists into any house or vehicle, citizens are encouraged to promptly inform the police. Failure to do so may lead to legal proceedings, including the seizure or attachment of such properties.
