On Wednesday, activists from the Shiv Sena Dogra Front, led by party president Ashok Gupta, staged a protest rally in Jammu city. They opposed the alleged display of the National Flag in an inverted position by former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
Gupta, addressing the gathered supporters, termed the incident a serious concern that necessitates immediate action. He urged local authorities to initiate a thorough inquiry and take appropriate measures in line with the Flag Code of India and relevant legal frameworks.
The activists expressed that the Tricolour stands for the unity and sovereignty of India, embodying the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and security personnel. They emphasized that every citizen, regardless of political affiliation or position, has a duty to safeguard and treat the National Flag with the utmost respect.
During the rally, party members stressed that displaying the Tricolour upside down is not just a mistake, but a blatant act of disrespect. They demanded a fair investigation by the administration to address this issue. Gupta insisted that if any breach of the Flag Code was confirmed, strict legal action should follow without any bias.
“No individual is above the law, and the sanctity of the National Flag must be preserved at all times,” he asserted. Additionally, he urged political parties and public representatives to be diligent and respectful when displaying the Tricolour, reinforcing the values it represents.
The protest concluded with passionate slogans honoring the National Flag, showcasing the unity of the demonstrators. Among the notable attendees were party activists Abhishek, Bittu, Ganesh, Bantu, Prem, Kalu, Rampal, Naresh, Ram, and others, all voicing their sentiments in support of the protest’s cause.
