Simari Kupwara, 23rd June 2026:- In a major boost to digital connectivity in the border areas of Karnah Valley, residents of Simari village can now access mobile and internet services from the comfort of their homes, ending years of communication challenges.
Until recently, villagers were compelled to walk nearly a kilometre towards neighbouring Khokar village to obtain a mobile signal. The commissioning of a new telecom tower in Simari has now brought reliable voice and data connectivity to the remote village situated near the Line of Control (LoC).
The tower, established by Jio with the facilitation of the Indian Army, has significantly improved the quality of life for local residents. Students can now participate in online learning, families can remain connected with relatives and friends and villagers can conveniently access digital banking services, government schemes and emergency communication facilities without having to leave the village.
Residents have welcomed the development, describing it as a long-awaited milestone for the area. The improved connectivity is expected to strengthen access to information, enhance educational opportunities and promote greater digital inclusion in the region.
For a community that once climbed hills and travelled long distances in search of a network signal, the arrival of dependable mobile connectivity represents far more than a technological advancement—it is a gateway to opportunity, empowerment and stronger integration with the rest of the country.
