Srinagar, Sept 20: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat asserted that justice must prevail in Kashmir by ensuring that no guilty person escapes the law and no innocent individual faces harm. Prabhat delivered this message during a high-level security review meeting held in Sopore.
The police chief stressed the principle of balanced policing, stating, “No guilty should escape and no innocent should be harmed.” He underscored the urgent need for operational vigilance in the region to effectively tackle ongoing security challenges.
DGP Prabhat called for enhanced measures such as area domination, intensive naka checking, and continuous night patrolling to counter increasing terrorist activities. He emphasized the significance of keeping relentless pressure on militants and their support networks through both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies.
“We must protect the rights and safety of law-abiding citizens while ensuring a tough stance against criminal elements,” he noted. Public engagement emerged as a vital point in his address to the officers. He directed Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) to facilitate free movement for citizens and provide prompt solutions to genuine grievances.
The DGP insisted on strengthening police stations, labeling them as the cornerstone of effective policing in Kashmir. “Police Stations should remain robust, responsive, and attuned to the needs of the community,” he stated.
During his visit, the DGP also inaugurated the newly established Special Operations Group (SOG) complex in Sopore. This initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency and reinforce the capabilities of the police force.
In the high-level meeting, Prabhat was accompanied by senior officers, including Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V K Birdi and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) North Kashmir Maqsood-ul-Zaman. Superintendent of Police Sopore Iftkhar Talib briefed them about the prevailing security scenario and the district’s operational challenges.
In a fruitful interaction with officials from the SOG Sopore, the DGP commended their dedication and motivated everyone to work with professionalism, synergy, and commitment. He concluded by emphasizing the role of the police in safeguarding lives, property, and the hard-earned peace of the Union Territory.
